Aerial LiDAR Survey

Our Aerial LiDAR Survey service specializes in Power Line Vegetation Management and Thermal Rating Surveys to enhance power distribution safety and reliability. Using advanced LiDAR technology, we proactively manage vegetation around powerlines, reducing outage and fire risks. Services include inspection, cutting, clearing, and trimming, adhering to Australian Standard 4373 and international safety regulations.

For Powerline LiDAR As-Built Surveys, we deploy RIEGL Surveyor 32 UAV systems operated by certified pilots to create precise 3D models for powerline management. Our Vegetation Management Surveys produce PLS-CADD™ models, ensuring compliance with regulations like NERC FAC-003 and preventing outages. Additionally, we perform Thermal Rating Analysis to assess and optimize transmission line efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Deliverables and Services

Powerline LiDAR As-Built Surveys

3D Engineering Surveys Ltd Conducts Powerline LiDAR As-Built Surveys using RIEGL Surveyor 32 LiDAR UAV systems operated by CAA-regulated pilots. These systems utilize multiple laser beams and Time-of-Flight (TOF) depth perception to create 3D point clouds for precise spatial sensing. With a 360° field of view, 420,000 points per second, long measurement range, high accuracy, and fine resolution, our UAVs are expertly controlled by UK CAA-qualified pilots based in the Philippines. Supported by qualified Filipino surveyors and pilots, our team ensures accurate data collection. Using E-Motion software, our pilots monitor flight progress, UAV performance, wind speed, and other systems, with the ability to abort missions and return to the home point if necessary. This comprehensive process guarantees high-quality, reliable surveys for powerline management.

Vegetation Management Surveys

Our Vegetation Management Surveys produce PLS-CADD™ models of networks with conductors sagged to their maximum operating temperature, allowing the Minister of Energy to check each span for potential hard infringements that could cause flashovers and unplanned outages. Utilizing LiDAR and other sensors, our software assesses clearances based on vegetation regulation requirements, such as NERC FAC-003 in the USA. We provide clear and effective reporting to prevent brownouts caused by vegetation flashovers, avoiding regulatory fines and service interruptions across the entire transmission and distribution network.

Thermal Rating Analysis of Transmission Lines

Our Thermal Rating Analysis service ensures regulatory compliance and maximizes transfer capacity for transmission lines. Using remote sensing data and CAD, we create accurate as-built models of lines. Experienced engineers and PLS-CADD technicians assess thermal ratings and clearance schedules, providing comprehensive insights. We offer PLS-CADD model analysis and 3D visualizations for effective communication within organizations. Our intelligent line profiling utilizes automated processing and geospatial technology to deliver cost-effective line clearance profiles swiftly. Benefits include demonstrating regulatory compliance, validating network ratings, and identifying thermal constraints for efficient remediation.
