3D Engineering Surveys Ltd (3DES) is delighted to announce that it has received notification of award, together with its Libyan partner Taknia Libya Engineering Company (TLEC), a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), to undertake a major digitalization project for AGOCO's Sarir Refinery in Libya.
Project Scope
The project will involve the comprehensive as-built laser scanning and intelligent 3D modelling of the complete refinery facility, including both above-ground and below-ground assets.
3DES and TLEC will deliver:
A fully intelligent AVEVA E3D 3D model of the refinery
Complete sets of intelligent engineering documentation, including Isometrics, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, P&IDs, and material specifications
High-accuracy as-built laser survey data
Aerial UAV imagery of the complete facility
A structured digital dataset designed to support future engineering, maintenance, modification, and asset-management activities.
A First-of-Its-Kind Project in Libya
3DES believes this will represent a first-of-its-kind project in Libya, creating a comprehensive digital representation of an entire refinery and establishing an important foundation for the digital transformation of Libya's oil and gas facilities.
The combination of high-accuracy reality capture, intelligent engineering modelling, and structured engineering data will provide AGOCO with a powerful platform for future brownfield engineering, modifications, maintenance, and asset management.
Training and Knowledge Transfer
Importantly, 3DES's involvement will not end with delivery of the digital datasets. Following completion, 3DES will host members of the AGOCO engineering team at its UK training facilities, providing practical training and knowledge transfer to help the engineering teams maximize the value and long-term benefits of the intelligent 3D model and associated engineering deliverables.
3DES is extremely pleased to be working alongside TLEC on this landmark project and looks forward to supporting AGOCO and the wider Libyan oil and gas industry in advancing the digitalization of its existing facilities.
From physical refinery, to accurate digital reality, to intelligent engineering model, to long-term digital asset — this project marks a major step forward for Libya's industrial digital transformation.
