3D Engineering Surveys Ltd delivered the first fully intelligent 3D model with complete generation of as-built 2D plant documentation ever completed within Pakistan on behalf of EPCL at their EDC-VCM plant in Karachi, Pakistan, to enable accurate design for future upgrades at the facility.

Scope of Work & Deliverables.

Installation of permanent primary control network—Using the EPCL plant grid datum, 3DES traversed and installed a permanent primary control network for all. A complete control network report with station descriptions was issued.

Laser scanning and generation of registered point cloud within AVEVA Point Cloud Manager.

As-built 3d modeling of point cloud with AVEVA E3D Design software. The point cloud (.LFD) will be imported into AVEVA E3D for our E3D Modelling team to model the items based on geometry.

Tagging the model using existing plant documentation (P&IDs, line and equipment listings, and isometrics) to add plant intelligence.

Labelling & Tagging of the model with instrument/equipment/valves tagging and line number, piping classes (Class 150, Class 300, Class 600 etc) flow directions, material specifications, classes, pressure ratings, types of valves (check, gate, butterfly, flow meter, etc.)

Verification of existing plant documentation – generation of revised as-built intelligent isometrics.

Deliverables.

Using the as-built geometry from the point cloud and 3d model 3DES within AVEVA Software was able to regenerate complete sets of revised intelligent isometrics, PFD, line and equipment listings of the entire plant – offering Engro Polymer and Chemicals Limited (EPCL) the information required to accurately redesign the facility in preparation of the upgrading of the facility.
